We zijn gewoon "even" mens, ongeacht leeftijd, herkomst, opvoeding, opleiding, hobby of verleden. Toch?

Ruimte voor conflicten Restorative Circles, een kennismaking "Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?" Henry David Thoreau
Welcome and thank you for finding us! Come and join us for two weeks, of sun, play, connection and laughter! All three of us are mothers, and all three of us went to Kalikalos as single parents with our children and were enriched, inspired and enchanted by it, which is why we’re back leading the workshops, and why we want you to join us too! We welcome children, single parents, coupled parents, men and women, straight or gay, friends, single people and young people of all ages. All of us are experienced at working with children, young people and adults and we are all highly qualified and experienced in our fields. We all, of course, also know and live with the demands and joys of parenting! We are working together to create this year's two-week family holiday programme which will produce a vibrant intergenerational community experience full of energy and creativity.
What will we do?
The great thing about this holiday is that although there is structure and routine, there is also lots of room to create the kind of holiday that you want! Each morning starts with a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurts, local bread and honey and then there is some time to wander down to the local village, read a book, play, or in some cases, get dressed! Morning sessions begin with an attunement, which is our way of finding out how you are, what you would like, and how we are doing in meeting your needs. We like the children to join this session and so keep it brief. We then move into the first activity of the morning which could be drama, drawing, massage, yoga, depending on what we as a group have decided upon. One of the great things about this holiday is that anyone can lead, anyone can share their skills and talents. For example in previous years we have had children teaching us games and songs, and adults leading us in, singing and, in one instance, a laughter yoga session which was so loud, the a villager couldn’t help but come and join in himself! Of course, all 3 of the leaders will have prepared to lead sessions, and equally we will be prepared to step away and let you lead and get involved as you wish. We take a mid morning break for drinks and fruit and then the second morning session starts. We have found in the past that the second session may be a continuation of the first session, or that at this point the adults go and find out about, for example, horoscopes, Transactional Analysis or Mindfulness from the leaders, or each other, while the children paint, or play. Parents co-operate with each other to get the adult time they need and to give other adults time out, by getting involved with the children and young people.
Afternoons
Lunch is simple; bread, cheese, salad (home grown as far as possible), and it is possible to take a packed lunch and head off to the beach earlier. In the afternoons, volunteers drive us down the beach where there is shade for the younger children and those of us who don’t need any more wrinkles. The sea is warm and clear and perfect for paddling, snorkeling and swimming.
On occasions the sea can be rough and then of course, it is down to individuals and parents to consider what is best for their children as there are strong currents in these conditions. Some people chose to use the afternoons to stay in Kalikalos and write, read or walk, and of course, the village, which is only 2 minutes away, has a number of tavernas in which to enjoy the dappled sun light.
Evenings
Dinner is served at 8pm and is vegetarian. Parents with younger children have found that this is too late for their children to eat after an afternoon splashing in the sea, and so there are facilities to cook tea-time snacks such as pancakes, eggs and pasta. Some evenings are left empty for you to sit around and chat to your new friends, to go on moonlight walks through the forest, while other parents mind your children (oh, and did I mention the tavernas?). Once a week we all go out for a meal, and at the end of each week we have a fire side celebration of songs and reflections. You can join in as much or as little as you like of this. If you wish to bring musical instruments, toys, etc, that would be great!

Kalikalos is run by and as a full community comprising the unpaid volunteer staffers and our guests. So, as a workshop participant you'll join the cooking team once in the week, and help occasionally with clean up, gardening or admin. The work is not onerous, about 6-7 hr of "Karma Yoga" in the week. This makes our programmes more affordable and helps us build community together.
